Adiponectin is a newly detected specific protein secreted by adipocyte, which is abounded in blood. It founded earlier in 1995,But until 2001,we haven't noticed its multiple characters and functions inregulation of glucolipid metablism, antidiabetic, antiatherosclerotic and antiinflammatory. Later, thanks to the fulfillment of detection of blood adiponectin concentration in large scale, many clinical research results came out, which verified the adiponectin's significant role in metabolic syndrome and cardiovascular disease. Adiponectin has protective actions in the initiation and progression of Coronary Heart Disease (CHD) through anti-in-flammatory and anti-atherogenic effects, which plays a crucial role in controlling CHD risk factor such as obesity,type-diabetes,and insulin resistance. Adiponectin will provide a new path ways to reduce the morbidity and mortality. Many research confirmations that Adiponectin is an important molecule associated with atherosclerosis in the clinical setting. Measurement of plasma concentrations of adiponectin may be a helpful adjunct for the assessment of the risk of coronary artery disease. Plasma concentrations of adiponectin may be related to the development of coronary artery disease, even in acute coronary syndrome. In this review,we only focus on the recent progress in the link of adiponectin to coronary heart disease.
