Objective: to study clinical characteristics of traumatic plastic deformity of the forearm in adultMethods:three cases of traumatic plastic forearm deformity in adults was reported ,a literature review of seven previous cases was performed. The disease usually presents with the bowing of the forearm , which can result in sigificant loss of forearm rotation. Results:the first patients only accepted close reduction, which results in residual deformities and the subluxation of the proximal radioulnar joint. the forearm pronation was 60 degrees ,with 70 degrees of supination, which was done associated with the the radius head'debouchment from the elbow joint.the other two patients were given multiple osteotomies of the affected bones, the second one got full restoration of forearm'rotation, the third involved multiple osteotomies of the ulna with reduction of a dislocated proximal radioulnar joint. However because of the severe muscle contusion, the rotation of the third person has a serious loss after the operation , three months later the forearm pronation was 60 degrees ,with 85 degrees of supination Conclusion: Traumatic bowing of the forearm in adults is a definite clinical entity,it is a disease that only occur in special age ,special mechanism . The age varies from 17 year to 19 year, the essence of the mechanism is tangential forces, caused by a longitunidal compression of the forearm around a cylindrical object.in a word it is a combination of longitunidal compression and rotational force.According to the mechanism ,we give a classification1 single ulna or radius deformation without radioular sublux- ation2 both ulna and radius deformation without radioular sublux- ation3 any traumatic forearm deformation with fracture (ulnar or radius)and/or radioular subluxationWe advise thatTo classification type 1, use close reduction in general anestheria may have a accepted result, but surgical multiple osteotomies will be better. To classification type 2and 3, multiple osteotomies is the only effective method to have a excellent functional result,is a absolutely surgical indication.but if muscle contusion is severe ,there could be an accordingly loss of the rotation after the operation .
