Objective:To explore the clinical manifestations of acquired immunodeficiency syndrome(AIDS)with nervous system complications.Methods:We collected the clinical material of AIDS patients who were admitted to our hospital from January 1998 to July 2006,and retrospectively analyzed the 42 cases having nervous system complications.Results:Among 42 cases,there were 27 cases of secondary opportunistic infection of central nervous system,including 6 cases of cryptococcosis meningitis,5 cases of cerebral toxoplasmosis,9 cases of tuberculous meningitis,3 cases of herpes zoster virus encephalitis,lease of herpes simple encephalitis,1 case of cytomegalovirus encephalitis,1 case of progressive multifocal leukoencepathy.There were 2 cases of central nervous system lymphoma.There were also 3 cases of HIV-associated dementia,1 case of vacuolar myelopathy,3 cases of Guillain-barre syndrome,3 cases of HIV-associated myopathy.1 case of cerebral hemorrhage,two cases of progressive cerebral infarction.Conclusions:The neurological manifestations of AIDS are various in their locations of involvement and their manifestations of clinical type,thus doctors should enhance their knowledge about this issue,being cautious of its diagnosis.Beware to detect HIV when necessary.Up to now,AIDS still has not very good management,so prevention is very important.
