Objective: To study the individual and synergistic antioxidation in vitro, the individual and synergistic antihyperlipemia in vivo between each fraction of jujubae and hawthorn. To study the relation between antioxidant activity in vitro and the lipid peroxidant in vivo. Methods: 1.The antioxidant activity of each fraction of hawthorn and jujubae extracts was assayed by the methods of the ABTS and DPPH in vitro, and also used in assaying the synergistic activity between hawthorn and jujubae.2. The TC, TG, LDL-C, HDL-C, SOD and MDA in serum of hyperlipemia mice were assayed by gavage of high fat emulion after 14 days. Results: 1. The scavenging capacity of ABTS and DPPH free radical of each fraction of jujubae extracts was DC>DD>DB>DW>DA>DY; DC>DB >DD >DW >DY>DA. The scavenging capacity of ABTS and DPPH free radical of each fraction of hawthorn extracts was SC>SD>SB>SW>SY>SE>SA; SC>SD >SB > SE>SY>SW>SA.2. The result of synergistic antioxidation by the ABTS between hawthorn and jujubae was SB+DC,SC+DA,DW+SC and DW+SE, and the result by the DPPH was DC+SE,SD+DC,SC+DD and SD+DA.3. Compared with hyperlipemia group, Both DY and DW could significantly decrease the lever of TC, TG, LDL-C, and increase the lever of HDL-C; DA could significantly decrease the lever of LDL-C and the liver weight ratio; DB could significantly decrease the lever of TG; DC could significantly decrease the lever of TG and increase HDL-C; DD could significantly decrease the lever of TC, TG, LDL-C and the liver weight ratio; The each fraction of jujubae could significantly decrease the lever of MDA.4.Both SY and SC could significantly decrease the levels of TC, TG, LDL-C,AI and MDA, and increase the level of HDL-C; SW, SA and SD could significantly decrease the levels of TG and AI, and increase the level of HDL-C; SB could significantly decrease the levels of TC, TG and AI.5. SC and DW has synergistic effects on the TC,TG,LDL-C and HDL-C; SC and DB, SC and DC has synergistic effects on the TG and SOD; SB and DC has synergistic effects on the HDL-C; SC and DA has synergistic effects on the LDL-C and HDL-C; SE and DW has synergistic effects on the SOD; SC and DD has synergistic effects on the MDA. Antagonistic effect existed between SD and DW on the TG and liver ratio; Also existed between SD and DA on the TG, LDL-C, HDL-C and MDA.Conclusions: 1.The antioxidation effect of SC was stronger than any other site of hawthorn extracts in vitro, Also DC was stronger than any other site of jujubae extracts in vitro.2. The synergistic antioxidation effects of SB and DC, SC and DA , DW and SC, DW and SE were obtained by ABTS assay respectively. The synergistic antioxidation effects of DC and SE, SD and DC,SC and DD, SD and DA were obtained by DPPH assay respectively.3. Jujubae and hawthorn could prevent lipid metabolism and reduce the lipid peroxidation in the hyperlipidemia mice . DY and DW were the effective part extracted from jujubae, DD was the the effecttive part extracted from DY. SC is the effective fraction of hawthorn in vivo.4. Synergistic hyperlipemia and lipid peroxidation effect were existed with SC and DD, SC and DB, SC and DC, SB and DC, SC and DA, SC and DW, SE and DW.5. The synergistic antioxidant activity obtained by the ABTS method in vitro had relation with the synergistic lipid peroxidant in vivo. But that was partial consistency by the DPPH method.
