Background: With the ageing of our society, the morbidity of chronic heart failure in elderly people is increasing. We should be cautiontious to this phenomenology. The pathophysiology of CHF include hemodynamic, neurohomoral and metabolic dysfunction. It is important to monitor hemodynamic parameters of CHF in order to evaluate and intervene with process of this disease.LVEF is a common index that is acquired by echocardiogram.ECHO is of time-consuming and of high cost. The result is also affected by subjective factors. ICG is of noninvasive and low cost. It can measure hemodynamic parameters by the change of thoracic impedence. The results can be repeated and have a good association to PAC. CI indicate the function of heart. It is measured by the volume of blood per minute. The change of CI can offer us alarm of the organical function and basical metabolic rate. Parrott CW has reported: there is correlation between CI and LVEF (correlation coeffient is 0.85). It can be used to monitor the systolic function of heart. BUA is a index that can reflect metabolism. It is affected by the production, scavenging and other pathophysiological factors, such as sympathetic nervous exitation and so on. There is a independent correlation between UA level and the risk of death from CVD. In order to explore the utilization of ICG in CHF and make the diagnosing and funtion evaluation in CHF effectively,it is important to understand the relation between paramerers of ICG and heart function and the relation between UA and hemodynamic parameters.Study objectives: We sought to explore the value of ICG in CHF and the correlation between UA and CI.Methods: We studied 100 elderly patients with chronic heart failure (NYHA class I~II/III/IV:40/32/28, age: 75±8/77±7/77±8years)and 30healthy elderly people as control group. The hemodynamic parameters were detected with Bioz.com impedance cardiography equipment. The levels of uric acid of 130 people were detected by biochemical auto-analyzer. The statistical treatment was used SPSS17.0.statistical package. Results: CI,VI were found reduction in CHF than in control group, nor were SVRI,TFC,STR. CI was found gradually decrease following the NYHA cardiac functional grading, but SVRI was different.VI was significantly different between NYHA I~Ⅱand III,Ⅳ,but there was not different between III and IV(P>0.05). TFC,STR was not significantly different between NYHA I~Ⅱ,III andⅣ,but there was a increasing in IV (P<0.05).②Through further study the effect of age to hemodynamics,we found that VI,CI were significantly decrease in advanced age, but SVRI was different.③Uric acid levels increase in parallel to disease severity in CHF.④There is a negative correlation between UA and CI (correlation coefficient is-0.57, p<0.01).Conclusion: The cardiac status can be evaluated through monitoring hemodynamics by ICG, There is a negative correlation between UA and CI.According to the correlation between UA and SVR, so there is a close relation between UA and ICG, the two tests can give similar information in the cardiac function evalation of CHF.
