The Primary Discussion Of Internal Distracter In Correction The Maxillary Retrusion

Maxillary retrusion is a craniofacial deformity which is common among the postoperational patients with chilopalatognathus. This is caused by the suppression of the growth of the maxilla due to congenital hypoplasia and the sequela after cleft lip and palate repair. Mangement of the maxillary retrusion includes orthognathous treatment and distraction osteogenesis. Distraction osteogenesis has become the ideal method because of the advantages such as extensive application , less damage, exact effect and lower recurrence rate. The defaults and merits of intraoral distractor were evaluated; the keypoints of osteotomy and juncture of the distraction were invest igated; the alternation of the soft and lapid tissue before and after the distraction were studied.In our study ,5 cases with maxillary retrusion were corrected by internal distracter. All of them were satisfied with postoperational results including the rectification of the midfacial depression, the reablement of the normal occlusion.Conclusion:The using of internal distracter is an effective way to correct the maxillary retrusion, with the advantages of rigid curative effect, lower recurrence rate , convinient and suitable for variable ages . The proper lag period , the velocity of distraction and the period of immobilization can be regulated according to the specificity of different cases. Orth-abnormity treatment is needed before or after the therapy, the velopharyngeal closure and pronunciation function could be influenced partly without functional disorders due to the adaptability of the peripheral tissue and the compensatory alternations.
