| Objective1.To design and create one Chinese speech signal software for auditory event related potential(AERP) measurements,which consistenting with requirements of speech audiometry and the national situation of China.2.To explore the effect of stimulus intensity on AERP when stimulied by tone stimuli and speech stimuli respectively and to gain the optimum intensity for AERP measurements.3.Compare chariseristics of AERP evoked by pure tone stimuli with Chinese speech stimuli,and to explore the feasibility of using Chinese speech stimuli to evoke AERP for Chinese.MethodsThe Chinese word card according to the characteristics of Mandarin and requirements of speech audiometry were screened.The word card as speech audiometry signal software was edited after stereo-recording,montaging and transformating,which should be compatible with the current equipment used by now. Normal young(36 ears in 20 young students) participants were tested by both tone and speech stimulus with different intensity levels.The intensity range of tone stimuli for typical AERP were Compared with that of speech stimuli.To analyze whether the effect of intensity on speech stimuli AERP test is the same as the tone stimuli,and gain the optimum intensity for AERP measurements.AERP were measured in Normal young participants(83 ears in 44 young students) evoked by both Chinese speech stimuli and pure tone stimuli in optimum intensity.The latency,amplitude and scores of AERP evoked by speech stimuli were compared with those evoked by pure tone stimuli.ResultsThe speech audiometry signal software included two word cards,the finals discriminate card and the initials discriminate card.Typical AERP waveforms were recorded when stimulate with the Chinese speech signal software.When intensity in the range of 40 dB SL-70dB SL,typical AERP waveforms were record easily with speech stimuli than tone stimuli(Z=4.12,P=0.000).Whether in speech stimuli or tone stimuli,the latency of P300 decreased with higher intensity,the influences of intensity to P300 latency have significant difference(P=0.000),but not to P300 peak amplitude(Pspeech=0.604,Ppuretone=0.414).50-60dB SL was the optimum intensity range for AERP measurements.Typical waves of AERP was recorded more easily with speech stimuli than pure tone stimuli,moreover,the differences were statistically significant(x2=4.0,P=0.039).The latency and amplitude of P300 evoked by both Chinese speech stimuli and pure tone stimuli were no significant difference (PL=0.057,PA=0.452),but the mean scores of AERP evoked by speech stimuli were significantly higher than those evoked by pure tone stimuli(t=6.57,P=0.000).N2 and P3 latency in left ear evoked by speech stimuli were significantly shorter than those evoked by pure tone stimuli(PN2=0.002,PP3=0.003),but there were no significant differences in right ear(PN2=0.924,PP3=0.935).Conclusions1.The Chinese speech signal software can be used for AERP measurements conveniently,which include the finals discriminate card and the initials discriminate card and beneficial for researching the physiological mechanism of the comprehensive abilities to Chinese language. 2.The effect of stimulus intensity on AERP evoked by speech stimuli is the same as the tone stimuli,the latency of P300 decreased with higher intensity,but the influences of intensity on P300 peak amplitude have no significant;3.Intensity range for typical AERP evoked by speech stimuli was wider than tone stimuli,50-60dB SL was the optimum intensity range for AERP measurements whether with speech stimli or pure tone stimuli;4.When with the optimum intensity stimuli,typical waves of AERP was recorded more easily with speech stimuli than pure tone stimuli;5.Chinese speech stimuli were more consistent with requests of AERP measurements and custom of Chinese spoken language,which is more suitable for Chinese's AERP measurements than pure tone stimuli. |
