Objects Through studying the practical teaching systems of Clinical medicine and its contents in Xinjiang Medical University, the insufficiencies of the systems are analyzed and suggestions about how to improve it have been made also. Methods Comparing the teaching plan of clinical medicine of Xinjiang Medical University in 2000 and in 2005; comparing teaching plans of clinical medicine between Xinjiang Medical University and other 42 universities selected by《course guide of higher medical and pharmaceutical education in China》which was published in 2007 and jointly compiled by Higher Educational Department of the Ministry of Education and Medical Education Special Committee of China Higher Education Association. Results (1) The experiment teaching hours and internship periods have been increased. The ratio between experiment teaching hours and theory teaching hours amounts to 0.54:1. The internship periods have been increased to 50 weeks which has reached or exceeded the internship weeks in other medical universities and this number also can basically consist with some study results at home. (2) The experiment teaching of the humanities and social science courses has been developed in order to enrich types and items of social practice. (3) With developing practical teaching management,"nine-teaching-requirement-oriented"objective of practical teaching has been built. Conclusions (1) Xinjiang Medical University has set up its comprehensive practical teaching systems of clinical medicine, mainly including: sub-systems of objective + sub-system of content + sub-system of environments. (2) The system talked above can meet the basic requirements of training international or local medical talents. (3) The system which is a new one to make overall plan and to carry out centralized management has built and perfected'General Teaching Affairs"aderministratrion module. (4)Through studying, it is suggested that a practical teaching module after graduation and a well-organized and improved quality control module should be set up for improving its deficiency.
