Lihongbaidiankang Pill Combined With Narrow Band Ultraviolet B For Vitiligo: Laboratory And Clinical Study

Objective:To observe the efficacy and safety of lihongbaidiankang pill in the treatment of vitiligo. To compare it with lihongbaidiankang pill combined with NB-UVB phototheraty in patients with vitiligo and observe whether has it possible additive effect. To investigate the possible mechanism of lihongbaidiankang pill in treating vitiligo. Methods:67 patients were involved in the study finally, which is the control(n=22, patch=98), Chinese herbs group(n=25,patch=122),and the combined group (n=20,patch= 117) respectively. All the target patchs of vitiligo patients in three groups were treated by external using Halometasone and Triclosan cream one times per day.The patients in Chinese herbs group and the combined group took lihongbaidiankang pill 3g tid and the half for children. the combined group received NB-UVB treatment 2 times per week with an initial dose of 0.3 J/㎝ 2. The dose was increased 0.1 J/㎝ 2 per treatment. After 7 treatments, The dose was increased 0.2 J/㎝ 2 per treatment to 2 J/㎝ 2and increased 0.3 J/㎝ 2 to per treatment until 3J/㎝2 and continue to end, 8 weeks as a course .After treatment evaluating target patchs repigmention and curative effect. 15 guinea pigs were divided into three groups randomly, which were the model group, the Chinese herbs group and the combined group. All guinea pigs were treated by external using 3% H2O2 one times everyday, the guinea pigs in Chinese herbs group and combined group took lihongbaidiankang pill solution 0.75g/kg.d, the combined group's guinea pigs received NB-UVB treatment 5 times per week , their dose was the same as clinical research. After 40 days, evaluating target patchs repigmention and observing the melain change of epidermis and hair follicle when experiment wes completed.Results:The clinical research results reveal the curative effect is much better than the control(cure rate 32%,obvious effect rate70.5%), which is significient different compared with the control(P<0.001). In addition, the curative effect of the combined group is higher than Chinese herbs group(obvious effect rate 89.7%), there are notable difference between two groups(P<0.001).As in other treatment modalities,the face showed good repigmentation, whereas hands and feet responded poorly. outcome of the experiment support the clinical research's result. Conclusion:According to the results of clinical and experimental research, lihongbandiankang pill is efficient and has fewer adverse effects. NB-UVB phototherapy combined with lihongbandiankang pill seems additive effect in the treatment of vitiligo.
