The Anatomical Observation On The Adult Buccal Fat Pad

[Objective]To study the Buccal Fat Pad systemically,to observe the characteristics of the buccal fat pad and relate with it and around tissue, and to offer exact referenced data and anatomic gist for buccal fat pad on cosmetology and plastic surgery,pedicle graft and repairing oral defects.[Method]10 cases(20 sides) antiseptically treated heads of cadavers (without perfusion) were used in measuring and particular describing the buccal fat pad and related nerves,blood vessels and around tissues. Statistic analysis were processed.[Result]The type of buccal process of the buccal fat pad:slightness, triangle,ellipse.The triangle has 9 sides,account for 45 percent of all sides;the slightness has 6 sides,account for 30 percent of all sides; the ellipse has 5 sides,account for 25 percent of all sides.The buccal process of buccal fat pad:the length of buccal process was 23.90±1.31 mm,width of buccal process was 18.69±1.90mm,thickness of buccal process was 2.50±0.28 mm.The pterygoid process of buccal fat pad:length of pterygoid process was 11.19±1.41 mm;width of pterygoid process was 14.75±2.03mm,thickness of pterygoid process was 1.96±0.34 mm.The distance from buccal process to outer canthus,mandibular angle, angle of mouth,nosewing,angle of mouth,auricular lobule take turns: 58.08±1.59mm,39.87±2.05mm,53.68±1.80mm,63.97±1.18mm,45.73±2.35 mm.Measured length and caliber of posterior superior alveolar artery, buccal artery,maxillary artery,unnamable artery,maxillary vein,facial vein were 22.23±1.89 mm,1.22±0.12 mm;25.03±2.45 mm,0.74±0.10 mm; 15.25±0.72mm,1.90±0.19mm;22.22±3.70mm,0.57±0.10mm;15.12±0.73 mm,1.60±0.17mm;27.29±1.43mm,2.22±0.23mm.Measured length and caliber of lingual nerve,buccal nerve were 10.81±1.05mm,2.12±0.15mm;21.92±1.50mm,1.09±0.08mm.The range of angle of the inferior alveolar and the outer fringe of pterygoid process is 20°to 50°. [Conclusion](1) The type of buccal process of the buccal fat pad:triangle (45 percent) slightness(30 percent) and ellipse(25 percent).(2) An unnamable artery was considered,the unnamable artery leaves maxillary artery,pass along ptergopalatine fossa,the body of buccal fat pad to buccal process,the arisen rate was 75 percent.Its naming needs to further discuss and to determine.(3) Inferior alveolar nerve about against the pterygoid process of buccal fat pad,due to make clear the position between the inferior alveolar and pterygoid process.We measured the include angle of the inferior alveolar and the outer fringe of pterygoid process.The range of the angle was from 20°to 50°.
