Tuberculosis (TB) is one of chronically infectious diseases, epidemic globally. China is among twenty-two high TB burden countries in the world, ranking the second in terms of total number of patients. After the implementation of DOTS, the job of TB prevention and cure in China makes great progress. But the epidemic situation of TB in China is still quite serious and the implementary quality of DOTS needs to be further improved, so there is a long way ahead to the success of TB prevention and cure.According to the GDP per person, six counties from three cities with different social and economic development levels were randomly chosen by the stratified-cluster sampling method. And then six towns with different social and economic development levels were randomly chosen in each county of those. All the 1824 registered country doctors in the 36 towns has been investigated and interviewed. The data was analyzed by members of Instituted of Social Medicine and Health Service Management, Shandong University, with the SPSS 13.0 package. All participants completed a self-made structured questionnaire which included items as follows: 1. the basic attributions, such as sex, age, education level; 2. the TB knowledge; 3. the status quo of TB case finding and managing; 4. cognizant levels of policies related to TB; 5. inclination to offer to service TB patients; 6. the attitudes towards TB patients; 7. the status quo of health education and training. In the research, descriptive statistics analysis of the TB cognitions, behaviors and attitudes of country doctors were made, followed by X~2 test and Kruskal-Wallis H test. Based on the professional knowledge, single factor analysis and Logistic regression analysis were used to explore the influencing factors of the cognitions, behaviors and attitudes mentioned above.Main findings of this study included: 1. Most country doctors received relevant training and were willing to receive more while almost half of them realized that they still need more to meet the requirement. 2. Country doctors developed the health education in variety of ways with wide contents which is conducive to helping people know more about TB and controlling the serious epidemic situation. 3. The country doctors played an important role in finding and managing the TB case, but behaviors against the regulations still exist. We will conclude the research as the follows: 1. More relevant trainings should be delivered to country doctors in order to meet their needs and better bring role of the health education in preventing TB into play. 2. We should constantly regulate the behaviors of country doctors in finding to managing TB case to improve the implementary quality of DOTS and put the TB prevention and cure to the new height. 3. Combined with the willingness of country doctors, new economically stimulating standard which is practical and logical should be explored. At the same time, some noneconomically stimulating policies should be implemented to strengthen the function of the economically stimulating policies.
