Objective: To observe the change of transforming growth factor beta expression after rat sciatic nerve crushed injury and TGF-β1 and the relationship of PEMFs and TGF-β1.Methods: 52 SD rats were divided into four groups: injury group A,PEMFs theropy group B,control group and nomal group D.The sciatic nerve were crushed with a special clamp.Group A were treated with PEMFs exposure and group B with sham explosure after the operation .Group C only exposed the sciatic nerve and group D was not treated any treatment .The histology and immunohistochemistry examination were performed respectively after 1 ,3 ,7,14 days.Result: 1 :The SFI show no difference comparing group A and group B(P> 0.05).2: The expression of TGF-β1 increased during the process of nerve regeneration, and reached the maximum 14days after nerve injury. There were distinct difference between group A and group C(P<0.05).3: The expression of TGF-β1 show distinct difference comparing group A with the group B on 1,3,7,14 days after the operation . PEMFs benefited the expression of TGF-β1 during nerve regeneration (P<0.05).Conclusion: The PEMFs didn't have obvious effect on the recovery of sciatic nerve function . The PEMFs participate in the pathoiogic process of peripheral nerve damage . and PEMFs promotes the expression of TGF-β1 during scitic nerve regeneration.
