Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) technology is a newly noninvasive method for the stimulation of cortex. It has the advantages of safe, valid, painless, no injury, repeatable and easy to operate. It has been widely used in the treatment of psychiatric and researches of brain function. A TMS system is designed in this paper, the analysis of the main circuit and the software designing of the control circuit are mainly studied.The general guidelines for designing and constructing a magnetic stimulator are presented in this paper, including the basic theories, hardware and its components, and the problems encountered in the designing process are discussed. A RLC model of TMS system is built, the method of computing the model parameters are presented, some factors which influents the magnetic field intensity are analyzed and discussed, and the elements parameters of the TMS system are calculated in details. The components are selected according to the requirement of the voltage and current. The TMS system has been designed and built finally, and the maximum value of working voltage can get to 2.5KV. Based on the designing and analyzing of the control circuit of the TMS system, the control software procedures are made, it can control the charging and discharging of the main circuit through the control system based on singlechip. The experiments result has showed that the system has the features of working stable and user-friendly.
