objective To summarize the experiences of total hip replacement in the teatment of dysplasia of hip following osteoarthritis in adults.methods From april 2003 to april 2007 ,40 hips in35 adult patients with dysplasia of hip following osteoarthritis undergo total hip replacement were included in this study. there were 5 patients underwent bilateral total hip replacement and 30 bad unilateral total hip replacement.Results The incusion healed smoothly. The dureabon of follow-up rangedfrom 3 months to 4 year .All the patients could walk independently after the surgery. They could takecare of themselves and restored to previous job.the average Harris score was increased from 50.83±8.29to 81.96±6.03 points after the sugery.Conclusion Total hip replacement is an effective methd in the treatment of dysplasia of hip following osteoarthritis in adults ,but would been encountered greater difficulty in these surgery. It is nessery to consider carrfully patho-alteration include primarily and secondary affetion of dysplsplasia of hip following osteoarthritis in the operation.and the careful preoperative planning is recommended.
