Objective: An experiment was done to research the effects of Xinle capsule in experimental murine coxcackie B3 viral myocarditis in order to assess the efficiency of Xinle capsule in treating VMC and develop a good medicine in Chinese herbs forclinical application.Methods:In the experiment, all the 90 male Balb/c mice were randomly divided into six groups: the normal control group, the pathologic control group, the Astragalus group,the high dose Xinle capsule group, the middle dose group, and the low dose group. The viral myocarditis model was established by injecting CVB3 (0.2m1/per mouse) into abdominal cavity in Balb/c mice. The expression levels of ICAM-1 and IL-1. the ultrastructure of heart, the pathologic changes and the survival rate were studied in 7 and 14 days after infection, the relationship between the expressionlevels and myocardial damages were studiedstatistically by semi-quantitative analysis.Results:As compared to infection group, the expression of ICAM-1 and IL-1 reduced in treatment group (P<0.01); Using the correlation analysis, apositive correlation between the expression of ICAM-1 and IL-1 (r=0.728,P<0.05).Conclusion:A positive correlation between the expression of ICAM-1,IL-1and the changes of myocardial histopathologic score, ICAM-I and IL-1 should be important roles in the pathogenesis of viral myocarditis, xinle capsule can reduce expression, reduce the changes of ultrastructure and pathology,improve the survive rate and protect myocardial tissue.
