Objective To investigate the mechanisms of emmetropization of the Chinese myopic eye and identify the aging rules of the refractive components. Methods 60 subjects 70 eyes with -6.00~-7.00 diopters were divided into four groups according to their age(A: <21years old, B: 21~39years old, C: 41~60years old, D:>60years old). The refractive parameters including the anterior and posterior corneal surface power(ACP, PCP) , central corneal thickness(CCT), anterior chamber depth(ACD), Maximum Simulated Keratoscope Reading,(sim k max), Minimum Simulated Keratoscope Reading,(sim k min), were measured by the OrbscanⅡcorneal topographic system. The changes of these parameters with age were analyzed. The results were analyzed by SPSS10.0.Results The results of the analysis showed that, with the increase of the age, the anterior and posterior corneal surface power(ACP; PCP)(r=0.5165, P<0.001; r=0.4924, P<0.001), Maximum Simulated Keratoscope Reading,(sim k max)(r=0.5385, P<0.001), Minimum Simulated Keratoscope Reading,(sim k min)(r=0.5856, P<0.001) increase and anterior chamber depth(ACD)(r=-0.5578, P<0.001) decreased correspondingly. It maintained a primitive refraction and retard the process of hypermetropization for the Chinese myopia in some standard. Most of refractive factors altered with the increase of age, but the central corneal thickness(CCT) (r=0.1917, P=0.109) remained relatively stable. Conclusion The Chinese myopic eye has the change rules with aging, which has an important meaning for the Chinese myopic eye to keep original refractive state .The Chinese myopic eye has a course of emmetropization. Emmetropization in the Chinese myopic eye is a comprehensive and interrelated course and a coordinating result of all these anatomic factors.
