Study Of Influencing Factors On Rehabilitation Of Hearing Impaired People In China

In China, the number of the disabled population is huge, according to the Second National Sample Survey on Disability with a total of 82.96 million in China, of which 20.04 million people with hearing impairment who are experienced poverty and challenges. Therefore, the research field on disability and related issues has become a focus of concern to the international community and scholars. Rehabilitation of persons with disabilities has played an important role in improving their status and returning to society. And the rehabilitation and demand for hearing impairment are significant different compared with other disabled category, so concerning about the influencing factors on rehabilitation of hearing impaired people has important significance.Using the date from the Second National Sample Survey on Disability (2006) and Subsequent Cracking Monitoring on Disability, describing the structure, distribution, prevalence rate, level of rehabilitation for hearing impaired people, applying the related statistical methods and multivariate model to explore and find out the influencing factors on the rehabilitation of hearing impairment. The result showed that: impact of factors including gender, educational level, marital status, place of residence, duration of disability, whether for multiple disabilities, whether disabled people with government permit, Engel coefficient, whether to participate in social security, whether to get Government relief, whether to be visited by NGOs and regional economic status. Hearing disabled people with higher educational level, living in citied, higher socio-economic status, supporting by the family remembers, longer duration of disability, still suffering from other disabilities and permitted by government are more likely to receive better rehabilitation services. The severity and duration of disability have negative effect on getting work opportunity. Government, NGOs and community also have great influence on the rehabilitation for hearing impairment.The significance of this study is systematically illustrating the current status and situation of hearing disabled people in China, demonstrating the main influencing factors on rehabilitation for hearing disability. Hopefully providing some suggestions and evidences for government polices making about disability rehabilitation.
