Readying Therapy Theory And Its Application

Reading therapy is a kind of age-old psychotherapy calling more and more attention. It organically and imperceptibly combines reading and treatment together, getting readers treated in a delighted mood. In a sense, reading is actually a psychological experience. It can make works arouse readers'sympathy and engender a psychological surge with noble emotions to produce a curative effect. This paper reviews the theory and application of reading therapy, on the basis of domestic and foreign literature, indicates that reading therapy is one of the effective measures of psychological treatment and adjustment as well as clinical patients'complementary treatment.This paper includes three parts: the first part systematically expounds the theory of reading therapy in respect of its definition, history, theoretical foundation, functional mechanism and types. The second part analyzes its feasibility and discusses the intervention to special population's psychological problems, to mental disorders as well as the situation of clinical patients'complementary treatment, thus presents the insufficiency and problems of present study and puts forward some suggestions on carrying out reading therapy in China. The last part concerns a case study of reading therapy's application in curing college students'insomnia, drawing the conclusion that reading therapy has a good curative effect on insomnia.
