Cerebral infarction is one of the most common disease in old people. For many years, the central nervous system(CNS)was considered to be "immune privileged",neither susceptible to nor contributing to inflammation. It is now appreciated that the cerebral infarction does exhibit features of inflammation, and in response to injury. The activation of complement, system is one of the capital factor in it.Mensurate the plasma level of C3,C4 in 43 patients with CI in acute period and 23 patients with CI in convalescent period,so as to study the changes and clinical significance of these complements in CI.Objective:To observe the plasma level change of complement C3,C4 in patients with cerebral infarction(CI),so as to study the changes and clinical significance of these complements in CI.Methods: Choose the 66 patients with CI between October 2007 and March 2008.43 patients with CI are in acute period and 23 patients with CI are in convalescent period. To mensurate the plasma level of C3,C4 in 43 patients with CI in acute period and 23 patients with CI in convalescent period.Use the "t" test. Results:The concentration of plasma C3 and C4 in CI acute group is no significant lower than the convalescent group(P>0.05)Conclusion:The results show that in the pathological mechanism of acute cerebral infarction, there is a evident inflammatory course accompanying the activation and consumption of complement system. The function of the activation of complement in the damage of cerebral tissue deserves for the research.
