Objective:To study the clinical features,diagnosis and therapies of vailcelia complications.Methods:3 cases of vailcelia complications were reviewed retrospectively.Clinical manifestations,diagnostic studies, treatments as well as patients' response to therapy were examined and analyzed.Results:the 3 patients,2 adults(male)and 1 child(female),had an average age of 18.7 years(range 9~9 years)at diagnosis. Fever,rash,general malaise,dizzy,itch,fatigue,lose appetite were symptoms most frequently seen,followed by pain of muscle,joints, abdominal pain,lumbago,hepatomegaly,cough.White blood cell or neuteophil rate was seen increasd in 2 patients who had bacteria infection and thrombocytopenia was seen in the acute lymphoblastic leukemia patient.All 3 patients had hepatic dysfunction,1 patient had symptoms and signs including jaundice,the elevation of serum bilirubin,prolonged prothrombin time and abnormal of liver ultrasonic,only 1 patient had positive signs of X-ray and lung CT test.The 2 primary varicella adult patients recieved antiviral drugs with acyclovir,antibiotics were given to patients who were not excluded bacterial infection.Diammonium glycyrrhizinate and glutathione were administrated to patients with impaired liver function.Corticosteroids were given to patients with repeated rash or severe clinical manifestations.All symptoms and laboratory values recovered in patients when they discharged.Conclusion: All 3 varicella patients were severe,many complications were seen:Adult varicella severe pneumonia,severe hepatitis,peripheral neuritis,testitis,2 of them had basic history.Clinical manifestation in Adult Varicella always atypical,especially in immunocompromised patients,steroid therapy addition to those recieved antiviral therapy may improve clinical outcome in some severe patients.
