[Objective] The purpose of the present study is to analyze the therapeutic effect of knee osteoarthritis(KOA) by joint injection with Shen-Mai parenteral solution combined with quadriceps femoris endurance training, and discuss the guiding function of the theory "Pay equal attention to bone-tendon-muscle" in the treatment of KOA.[Materials and Methods] All the cases were come from the patients who were diagnosed KOA in the orthopaedics department of the Second Hospital of TCM in Guangdong Province during May 2007 to January 2008. We selected 90 cases randomly, and divided them into 3 groups, including experimental group, control group I and control group II, with 30 cases in each group. The experimental group was treated by joint injection with Shen-Mai parenteral solution combined with quadriceps femoris endurance training. The control group I was treated by joint injection with Shen-Mai parenteral solution exclusively; The control group II was treated by joint injection with Sodium Hyaluronate(SH). One month after treatment, the therapeutic effect was evaluated. The effective evaluation criteria is divided into four grades: clinically controlled, markedly effective, valid and ineffective. The results of research are processed by SPSS 11. 0 software. The T-test was applied in measurement data comparison, and the Chi-square test was applied in enumeration data comparison. The significance is set at P<0.05 and the confidence interval is 95%.[Result] 1. When compared pro and after treatments, all the three groups showed P<0. 05 within group, which means the therapeutic effect of each group is efficient. 2. When compared between groups after treatments, the effect of the experimental group is superior to the control group I and II (P<0.05). There was no significant difference between control group I and control group II (P > 0.05).[Conclusion] 1. The therapeutic effect of KOA is excellent when treated by joint injection with Shen-Mai parenteral solution combined with quadriceps femoris functional exercise. 2. The theoretical system of "Pay equal attention to bone-tendon-muscle" is not only scientific but also feasible in guiding clinical treatment.
