The Study Of Correlation On Osteoporosis And Lumbar Spine Degeneration

Objective To analysis the association between the osteoporosis and the degeneration of the lumbar spinal column,and to provide the objective clinical guide for diagnosingthe corresponding diseases,predecting the developing of the diseases,taking the corresponding medical treatment to the diseases and expanding the thought of treatment in Chinese traditional medicine.Methods We adopted the randomized controlled trial study method in this study.Chose 90 examples randomly in Guangzhou traditional Chinese medicine university affiliated orthopedics hospital during December 2006 to December 2007.The 90 cases were derided into 3 groups according to the BMD which was decticted.The Vein blood was obtained to detect the parathyroid hormone(PTH) and the calcitonin(CT)and photographs of the lumbar spinal column from the anterior and the posterior and lateral position were taken.Then analysed the change of the PTH and CT,the score of the osteophyte,the change of the lumbar discs and the deformation of the vetebral body by using the statistic software SPSS13.0 to study the correlation between the osteoporosis and the degeneration of the lumbar spinal column.Results Statistic analysis results demonstrate that the content of PTH differ largely.The content of PTH of the osteoporosis is higher than the the osteopenia and the control.The content of CT of the osteoporosis is lower than the the osteopenia and the control.The difference is signifficent in statistics(P＜0.05),which is the same in the contrast of the score of Nathan of the osteophyte.The difference of the height of lumbar disc in every segment is signifficent(P＜0.05).The osteoporosis is smaller than the osteopenia and the control.The difference of the deformation between the osteopenia and the control is very small(P＞0.05),however,it is very signifficent between the osteoporosis and the two above(P＜0.01),and the deformation often occures in the first,the fouth and the fifth vertebral body.Conclusion According to the investigation and research results,we discovered that the osteoporosis degenerates most seriouly,the osteopenia degenerates less than the osteoporosis,and the control degenerates least.There is very signifficent relativity between BMD and the PTH and the score of the osteophyte.The results indicate that there is positive correlation between osteoporosis and degeneration of the lumbar spine column, osteoporosis can lead to the degeneration of the lumbar spine column or it can speed the degeneration.
