Abstract/Summary:
Purpose: 1. To investigate the incidence of prediabetes retinopathy and relative risk factors, so as to provide a theoretic guideline for the early treatment of diabetic retinopathy (DR); 2. To test the serum concentration of RANTES, to analyze the relationship between serum RANTES and prediabetes retinopathy, try to find out the pathogenesis of prediabetes retinopathy. Methods: 1. We have investigated 421 diabetes families in cooperation with the endocrine department of the First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University, from DEC. 2004 to DEC. 2006. Their height, weight, blood pressure, waist circumference, hip circumference, plasma glucose, blood fat, renal function, and urine album eliminate rate were measured; eye backgrounds were investigated by professional oculist. 110 prediabetes patients received further FFA test, compaired with the FFA outcome of 100 people in normal OGTT, so as to investigate the incidence of diabetic retinopathy in prediabetes patients. Clinical risk factors were analyzed as well. 2. Subjects were divided into five groups: Group 1: Normal control; Group 2: Prediabetes without DR; Group 3: Prediabetes with DR; Group 4: Diabetes without DR; Group 5: Diabetes with NPDR. The serum concentration of RANTES was tested by human RANTES instant ELISA test kit so as to analyze the relationship between prediabetes DR and serum concentration of RANTES. Datas were analyzed by SPSS 13. Numerical variables were represented as x±s. The normal distribution and variance homogeneity were measured then mean values were compared by the student tests. P values were tested by variance analysis among the groups. Categorical variables were analyzed byχ2. Etiologies were analyzed by logistic regression. P<0.05 shows there were significant differences. Results: 1. Among 208 prediabetes, 2-3 micro aneurysms were found in 3 patients by ophthalmoscope, the incidence was 1.44%. In the 110 prediabetes those who had FFA test, several micro aneurysms on retinal posterior pole were found in 23 patients, no hemorrhage, exudation and endovascular have been detected. The incidence was 20.91%. The risk factors of prediabetes DR was analyzed by multiple logistic regression and no relationship was found between prediabetes and age, BMI, WHR, TG, TC, HDL-C, LDL-C, BUN, Cr, AER, smoking. 2. Serum RANTES test: The concentration of serum RANTES in diabetic DR group was the highest, higher than that one of both prediabetes with and without DR group; Prediabetes with DR group resulted higher than prediabetes without DR group(P< 0.05); There was no statistical difference between prediabetes without DR group and normal control. Conclusion: 1. Fundus telescope shows that the incidence of prediabetes retinopathy was 1.44%. 2. FFA test shows that the incidence of DR in prediabetes was 20.91%. 3. No relationship was found between prediabetes and age, BMI, WHR, TG, TC, HDL-C, LDL-C, BUN, Cr, AER, smoking. 4. The serum RANTES elevates in prediabetes DR.
