Objective: To describe the prevalence and distribution of mental disorders among people aged more than 18 in Dalian City, Liaoning province, and use this data to provide evidence for clinical treatment, diseases control, prevention and recovery and prepare for a mental health plan and the prevention and cure in the community.Methods: Stratified multi-stage cluster randomization was used, They were assessed for DSM-IV diagnoses by face to face interview with Composite international Diagnostic Interview (CIDI3.0), Mentel-Haenszel delamination analysis method was used to calculate OR and 95%CI of lifetime prevalence of mood, anxiety and substance use disorders of different groups, chi-square test was used to find the difference of the prevalence of different groups.Results: The adjusted 30-day, 12-month and lifetime prevalence of overall disorders were 15.65‰,26.82‰,92.08‰respectively, lifetime prevalence of mood, anxiety and substance use disorders were 44.04‰,17.26‰,35.18‰respectively, Compared with the males, the females have significantly higher lifetime prevalence of mood disorders (OR=1.45, 95%CI=1.09~1.92) and lower lifetime prevalence of substance use disorders (OR=0.05,95%CI=0.03~0.09), the urban has no significantly different lifetime prevalence with the rural in all mental disorders, the groups which have lower incoming, lower culture, divorced and lost spouse, had no job have higher lifetime prevalence .Conclusions:The prevalence of overall disorders,mood,substanceuse disorders and depression among people in Dalian is higher in China.the problem of mental health has been a more prominent social problem and a grave public health problem need to be solved stringently.It is very necessary to develop comprehensive layout about mental health and evaluate its effects.
