Objective:Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disease of airway, which is a common illess frightening the health of the people in the world nowadays.Bronchiolitis is an respiratory disease in infants, asthma is the character of it.According to the survey,22.1%-53.2% of the children develop asthma, having higher incidence of asthma than those without bronchiolitis record. Cysteinyl Leukotriene(CysLTs)is one of the most important inflammatory mediators in pathogenesis of asthma.Cysteinyl leukotriene receptor antagonist has effect on treatment of asthma. It is a treatment in GINA(Global initiative for asthma)2002. We reviewed children with bronchiolitis to observe the incidence of asthma and We detected the concentration of CysLTs and T-IgE in serum of the children with bronchiolitis, asthma and healthy control children. The results were compared among them to study the effect of the CysLTs on the pathogenesis of bronchiolitisMethods:We reviewed two hundered and twenty eight children with bronchiolitis by two to seven months and detected the serum LTE4 and T- IgE level in 62 children with bronchiolitis and 39 children with asthma by ELISA method in their acute attack stage. The results were compared with those of the healthy control children. The data was processed by statistical software SPSS10.0 and with significant level 0.05.Results:1. There were 31 children who developped asthma. The rate of asthma was 16.3%。2. The average serum LTE4 of bronchiolitis children in acute attack stage was 324.73(233.09-416.36)pg/ml; The average serum LTE4 of asthma, children in acute attack stage was 314.62(190.19-439.05)pg/ml.The average serum LTE4 of healthy control children was 43.85 (18.01-69.70) pg/ml.The statistical results indicated that the serum LTE4 of bronchiolitis children in acute attack stage was significantly higher than that of the controls(P < 0.01), the discrepancy was significant in statistics. :The average serum LTE4 of bronchiolitis children in acute attack stage was higher than that of asthma, but the discrepancy was not significant in statistics(P>0.05).3. The average serum LTE4 of bronchiolitis with allergy was 270.01±328.01pg/ml, The average serum LTE4 of bronchiolitis without allergy was 429.60±405.54pg/ml, The statistical results indicated that the discrepancy was not significant in statistics(P>0.05).4. The average serum T-IgE of bronchiolitis children in acute attack stage was 32.89(18.56-47.21)IU/ml; The average serum T-IgE of asthma, children in acute attack stage was 185.29(135.53-235.05)IU/ml The average serum T-IgE of healthy control children was 11.19(7.14-15.22)IU/ml .The statistical results indicated that the serum T-IgE of bronchiolitis children in acute attack stage was significantly lower than that of asthma (P<0.01), the discrepancy was significant in statistics.Between the average serum LTE4 of bronchiolitis children in acute attack stage and than that of the controls, the discrepancy was not significant in statistics(P>0.05).Conclusions:1.The children with bronchiolitis develop asthma, having higher incidence of asthma than those without bronchiolitis record.2.LTE4 indeed take part in the attack process of the bronchiolitis.3.Allergy has little effect on LTE4, bronchiolitis should be interfered.4.The function of IgE in bronchiolitis is not assured,it wait for a further study to define.
