Objective:To review the surgical treatment of 25 patients with infective endocarditis.Methods:18 male and 7 female patients (mean age 40.5 years)with IE received surgical intervention under cardiopulmonary bypass. The aortic valve was involved in 14 patients, the mitral valve in 9 patients, the tricuspid valve in 6 patients, the pulmonary valve in 1 patient. Vegetations,infective valves and cardiac tissue were excised and debrided. 17 patients underwent valve replacement with mechanical prosthesis,3 patients underwent annuloplasty, 4 patients underwent valve replacement and annuloplasty at the same time ,1 patient received perivalvular leakage and valvular perforation repairment.Results:There was no operative death in the 25 patients ,all patients' post-operation state were stable,their cardiac function were also improved.Conclusion:Early surgical intervention after medical treatment is recommended in patients with IE, The long-term prognosis will be better.
