The incidence and mortality rate of Involutional depression are gradually increase in China recently along with the high-speed sociometric progress. It is customarily cured with antidepressant drug, Combines with hormone replacement therapy (HRT) pro re nata. Even if a certain effect, the individual variation, addiction, and potentialside effect were is worth of attention. Various kinds of psychotherapy has instable effect, practice and generalization difficulty. Chinese crude drug broth is effective, but it takes a long time to be overdose and to work. The Ventro-acupuncture of Bo shi is fast-good effect, painless, small side effect. Expandedness of the investigation is to learn the effect of the Ventro-acupuncture of Bo shi.ObjectiveThe research is that the Ventro-acupuncture of Bo shi and Flupentixol and Melitracen tablets treat the Involutional depression, to observe the validity and the security of the Ventro-acupuncture of Bo shi, to expect to establish optimized therapeutic scheme of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), which is to be extensively generalized.MethodUsing randomized controlled trial, we observed 60 out-patients with Involutional depression in department of Gynecology in Guangdong TCM Hospital from Dec. 2007 to Mar. 2008. According to Randomized table divide the patients to the trial group with Ventro-acupuncture of Bo shi and control group with flupentixol-melitracen (Denmark, N. Lonbench, Corporation) , the treatment consisits 4 weeks. To evaluate the Hamilton Rating Sclae for Depression (HAMD), Kupermann Index (KI), before therapy, and 2/4/6/8 weeks after therapy each, meanwhile detect the 5-hydroxytryptamine concentration in serum before and after therapy by high efficiency liquid chromatography, and safety evaluation, and record the harmful incident.Result1. HAMD score, 2 or 4 weeks after therapy trial group and control group both has significant difference with the one before therapy(P<0. 01), and no notable statistics difference between groups (P>0. 05). The result has the excellence rate of 75.9% in trial group, 48.3% in control group, the efficiency of trial group is significantly better than which of control group(P<0.05). 2. KI, respectively compared patients' indexes correlation on perimenopausal syndromes, trial group and control group have been obviously improved, and the difference between them exists notable statistics sense(P<0. 01). 3. 5-hydroxytryptamine concentration in serum, that of trial group has no significant change, which of control group after therapy is lower than that before therapy(P<0. 05). 4. Compared the HAMD and KI scores 4 weeks after therapy, there is respectively no difference between that and which of follow-up period (P >0.05), and the differences of control group both exist notable statistics sense(P<0.05). 5. Each group has 1 case defluviums, and has not abnormalty on safety evaluation yet.Conclusion1. The Ventro-acupuncture of Bo shi could improve the depressive disorder and climacteric symptom.2. The Ventro-acupuncture of Bo shi therapeutic effect is fast-effect, long-term and less effect. It proves the Ventro-acupuncture of Bo shi is safe, effective. It can be use extensively as an effective therapeutics of Involutional depression.3. The Ventro-acupuncture of Bo shi can block the degression tendency of the 5-hydroxytryptamine concentration in serum of women with Involutional depression, and that of the flupentixol-melitracen descends significantly.
