| Background:Cheilitis exfoliativa is an inflammatory reaction of the lips and adjoining skin.It is also know as cheilitis.There are many different cases as allergy,crohn disease,and sarcoidosis.Rare causes are infections, genetic disorders or by exogenous factors,etc.Allergic contact cheilitis remain unknown.All great variety of allergens has been identified as potentials allergens causing cheilitis exfoliativa.Common exogenous cause include contact allergy to lipsticks,lip balm,toothpastes,dentifrices, dental materials,medications,smoking,drink and irritancy from lip smacking.And its results in dry lips,thinned skin of the lips,scaly patches,swelling of the lip,redness and soreness or painful,etc.The conditions occur in people of any race and age,however occur more in female.Cheilitis exfoliativa is a local manifestation of physical disease based on Traditional Chinese Medicine,connection with Yin and Yang, Qi and Blood,and internal organs of Lungs,Spleen and Stomach.And also think that it cased by damp-heart between Spleen and Stomach deficiency.In Western Medicine common used topical corticosteroids for treating cheilitis,but which also cased a lot of side effect,such as pigmented Lesions,vasoconstriction and rely on it by used in a long period.In order to solve those problems,we used Chinese medicine "Sheng Ji Gao" in this study."Sheng Ji Gao" is one of the products from our TCM hospital,which connecting Zhenzhumo,Luganshi(Calamina),Bing Pian(Dryobalanops aromatica Gaertn.),and so on.Overall,we can see that "Sheng Ji Gao" is a good and safety medicine using in dermatology. Objective:Evaluate the curative effect of the Traditional Chinese Medicine "Sheng Ji Gao" in cheilitis exfoliativa.And asses the curative effect of Chinese medicine "Sheng Ji Gao" used in treating cheilitis exfoliativa.Method:60 cases of patients who have cheilitis exfoliativa were randomly divided into 2 groups.Study group(40 cases)was treated by "Sheng Ji Go" Control group(20 cases)was treated by Hydrocortisone Butyrate Lipocream.Each patient received 3 course of therapy weekly.Finally, measure the effectiveness of those medicines before and after therapy.Animals' experiment:Prove the irritability and toxicity of the "Sheng Ji Gao" which used on the animals' experiment.Results:After treating,60 cases were completed.Among patients in study group (40 cases were completed),10 cases were cured,14 cases markedly effective, 12 cases effective and 4 cases an ineffective,the total efficacy of the study group being 90.2%.In control group(20 cases were completed),3 cases were cured,5 case markedly effective,9 cases effective and 3 cases an ineffective,the total efficacy of control group being 85.7%,which is similar to study group(p＞0.05).The respondence have no statistical meaning.Relapse rate:Follow the cases after 3 months therapy to observation the rate of relapse.The results show that there have 3 cases relapse in study group and the ration is 13.6%.2 cases relapse in control group and the ration is 20.0%.There was no significant difference in the rate of relapse in both groups.Animals' experiment:The results show that there hasn't any side-effect. And it could be show that "Sheng Ji Gao" is a safety medicine.Conclusion:The traditional Chinese medicine "Sheng Ji Gao" apply solvent is a better treatment for cheilitis,and none of the side effect was found.The outcomes show that Chinese medicine can improve the symptom and appearance of the patient who had cheilitis.And proved that "Sheng Ji Gao" more effective and safety.
