Objective to investigate the clinical features and pathological characteristics of Lupus Miliaris Disseminatus Faciei ,use the PCR to investigate tuberculosis,in order to increase the level of clinical diagnosis. Methods 1.52 patients(31male 21Famale)diagnosed as LMDF clinically and histopathologically were collected from the dermatological department of the First Affiliated Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University during January,1998 to April, 2008, and reviewed analysis is given out for the clinical features and pathological characteristics.use statistics method to analyse the results.2. Applying PCR technique to detect DNA fragment of complex-specific insertion sequence IS6110 of M.tuberculosis and in skin biopsy specimens from 52 patients with LMDF, Exact probabilities in 2 X 2 table was used for analysia of the results data. Results 1.The diagnosis of LMDF need both clinical features and pathological characteristics. 2.Histopathologic examination of different lesions of LMDF revealed the followings. There was a slight to moderate dense lymphocytic infiltrate in all of the biopsies. According to different characteristics, they were divided into four groups:epithelioid cell granulomas with caseation necrosis in 24 patients (46.18%);epithelioid cell granulomas without central caseation necrosis,19patients (36.54%);epithelioid cell granulomas with abscesses,6patients (11.54%);nonspecific characteristics only single cell nucleus infiltrate,3 patients(5.77%).3. Only 1 case is positive in the LMDF Conclusions 1. The diagnosis of LMDF need both clinical features and pathological characteristics. 2.Mycobacteria may have a link to the pathogenesis of LMDF.3. Histopathologic examination of the lesions of LMDF revealed different characteristics. These may have something to do with different course of the disease, infection, biopsy position. Nevertheless there was a slight to moderate dense lymphocytic infiltrate in all of the biopsies. So epithelioid cell granulomas with caseation necrosis are typical histologic features of LMDF but not a constant finding.
