Objective: To explore the binocular vision and the feature of VEPBS (Visual evoked potential binocular summation) to amblyopia children. And evaluate the significance of VEPBS to the binocular vision. Methods: In this study, the 80 normal and 151 hyperopia amblyopia children were selected to perform the Titmus stereopsis, synoptophore and binocular VEPBS, respectively. The feature of VEPBS was further analyzed by the means of statistics technique. In addition, we carried out the comparison of amplitude and latency between VEP binocular and monocular stimulation. Results: It was shown that VEPBS in amblyopia children was less than in normal children group and its difference was significant. It was significant in the comparison of Simultaneous perception and non-simultaneous perception. The difference of VEPBS was significant between severe amblyopia and slight, medium amblyopia, but there was no significance in statistics between slight and medium amblyopia. There was significant difference between VEP binocular and monocular stimulation amplitude, while there was no any significant difference in statistics between VEP binocular and monocular stimulation latency within normal children. Meanwhile, there was no any significance in statistics between VEP binocular stimulation amplitude, latency and monocular stimulation amplitude ,latency within amblyopia children. There were no any significance among regroup, age, gender and Stereopsis. Conclusions: We demonstrated that VEPBS in hyperopia amblyopia children was less than in normal children. There was a significant difference between Simultaneous perception and non-simultaneous perception. It seemed to be never happened in VEPBS for non-simultaneous perception people. The difference of VEPBS was significant between severe amblyopia and slight, medium amblyopia, but there were no signicance between slight and medium amblyopia. Compared with VEP binocular stimulation and monocular stimulation for hyperopia amblyopia children, we did not find an obvious difference in amplitude . Furthermore, we observed that VEPBS had no any distinct relationships with gender, age and Stereopsis. We finally concluded that VEPBS, acting as an evaluation factor, could impartially reflect the effect of binocular vision on amblyopia children and had particular value in the evaluation of binocular vision.
