Objective: The hospital patients of edema in lower extremities in patients with cervical cancer treated with radiotherapy and chemoradiotherapy between 2002 and 2007 were investgated to get the proportion of type of edema of lower extremity, initial attack time of every type of edema of lower extremity and blood feature in patients with lower extremity edema caused by deep vein thrombosis(DVT), which benefits early diagnosis, early therapy and prophylaxis. Methods: 40 patients were selected and observed from symptoms, physical sign, phlebography and ultrasound examination. Results: 1) The proportion of lower extremity edema caused by DVT was 80% and lymphoedema of the lower extremities was 20%. The incidence rate of lower extremity edema caused by DVT after radiotherapy and chemoradiotherapy was 65%~91%.The probabilistic reliability was 95%; 2)The onset of lymphoedema of the lower extremities for the first time almost were 2 years to 3 years. The onset of lower extremity edema caused by DVT were 1 day to 6 years; 3)Thrombocytic numbers of patients with lower extremity edema caused by DVT were 332×109/L, haematoglobin were 95.3g/L, Pearson correlation was-0.534, P=0.002<0.05. Conclusion: The protortion of lower extremity edema caused by DVT is more compared to lymphoedema of the lower extremities,.the onset of lower extremity edema caused by DVT for the first time is earlier compared to lymphoedema of the lower extremities. Thrombocytic numbers are opposite linear correlation to haematoglobin in patients with lower extremity edema caused by DVT.
