Objective :to observe the effect of homograft of Irradiated Human Umbilical Artery Incorporated with Silver (IHUAIS).Methods :Human Umbilical Artery were randomly divided into 3 groups: fresh Human Umbilical Artery(group I), Lyophilize-irradiated Human Umbilical Artery (group II) , Irradiated Human Umbilical Artery Incorporated with Silver (group III); Ag+ Level were detected in the IHUVIS group, all groups were assayed by bacterium culture and inhibiting bacteria in vitro. 16 rabbits were remandly divide into two groups, the study group was were transplanted with Irradiated Human Umbilical Artery Incorporated with Silver, the other group was transplanted with Irradiated Human Umbilical Artery, the histologic change and tarnsplantic property was observed at 8weeks and 16 weeks after operation.Result :Ag+ was detected in the IHUVIS, no bacterial growth was found in group I-III. By contrast ,the IHUVIS effectively inhibited growth of bacteria(P<0.01).the totle patent rate of the two groups had no sign difference. an uniform luminal monolayer of endothelium were seen in 8 weeks after operation, smooth muscle cells were seen in the media of the IHUAINS 16 weeks after operation. Conclusion :Irradiated Human Umbilical Venous Incorporated with Silver could inhibit growth of bacteria, can be used to avoid the failure because of infection and cross-infection after transplantation . could reconstruct a new arterial vessel in the fabric structure of IHUAIS.
