Study On The Evaluation System Of Practical Ability For Doctoral Candidates Of Clinical Medicine

The training of graduate students of clinical medicine focuses on practical clinical professional abilities and aims to turn out advanced specialized talents with all-round development of morality, intelligence, physique, and excellence both in character and scholarship who can meet the needs of national socialist construction and social development.Ever since 1998 when China tried out degree system of clinical medicine, the national training system for graduate students of clinical medicine has gradually become mature, perfect and uniform through almost ten years of development and exploration. However, the construction of evaluation system of practical clinical ability has yet to be developed. At present, our country is still in need of relatively scientific, perfect and uniform evaluation system and scoring criteria for clinical ability and most domestic related medical institutes adopt different evaluation systems in accordance with their own situations, which, without doubt, indicates that the research of medical education quality evaluation in our country is still on its initial stage, and the institutes vary in their levels without standard evaluation system and guideline.In view of the present situation of practical clinical ability evaluation of clinical medicine and from the perspective of practical clinical ability evaluation for doctoral candidates of clinical medicine, this study, in reference to other relevant guidelines and systems, analyzes and scrutinizes different specialties included in the evaluation in accordance with the Evaluation Items and Requirements of Clinical Ability for Clinical Medicine issued by the State Council Degree Commission, and determines evaluation criteria according to training objectives for doctoral candidates of clinical medicine. This study uses improved Delphi Method to conduct expertise consultation of different levels of evaluation targets and criteria as well as its weight coefficients, determines evaluation procedures and requirements in accordance with objective laws and characteristics of clinical diagnosis activities, and establishes a set of evaluation system of practical ability for doctoral candidates of clinical medicine.Upon its establishment, this evaluation system was put into practical application of clinical ability evaluation and the result was analyzed through statistical methods. It proves that this system is applicable to the evaluation of practical ability for doctoral candidates of clinical medicine and able to measure and reflect real levels of the evaluated targets; at the same time, it meets the need of evaluation by phases and categories, which is of practical guiding significance to individual and general teaching and training of graduate students.
