Objective: This thesis studys the etiological factor and pathogenesis of the insomnia caused by internal disturbance of pyrophlegm and observes the therapeutic effect of Qing Xin Di Tan Tang Decoction, which proves its validity and feasibility.Method: In clinic, 62 cases who have insomnia with TCM syndrome of hyperactivity of pyrophlegm are randomly classified into two groups, in experimental group patients are treated by Qing Xin Di Tan Tang decoction and in control group patients are treated by ALprazolanic, four-weeks is a course of treatment.The changes of PSQI scores and SAS, SDS, TCM sign are observed.Results: By statistical analysis, the datas between the two groups which include the sex, age, and the value of PSQI, SAS, SDS and TCM syndrome before therapy have no significant deviation. So the two groups are comparable. After treatment, the clinical observations show that the two groups' total value of PSQI, SAS, SDS and TCM syndrome decreased, and there were no significant difference in improving clinical symptom. But the experimental group is superior to the control group in improving the TCM syndrome, SAS, and the time of sleep. Qing Xin Di Tan Tang Decoction not only plays a great role in keeping sedation and tranquilization but also can ameliorate anxious or depressive spirit. This validates the correctness of treating the insomnia by dissipating phlegm and reducing pathogenic fire.Conclusion: The Qing Xin Di Tan Tang Decoction can increase the sleep quality,and its effect on treating the insomnia caused by internal disturbance of pyrophlegm is the same as the one of the ALprazolanic. There is no obvious side effect of the Qing Xin Di Tan Tang Decoction. It is safe and effective to treat insomnia by usingthe traditional chinese medicine.
