Purpose: To investigate the clinical types of secondary glaucoma associated with ocular trauma and evaluate therapeutic efficiency. Methods: Clinical analysis of 43 admission cases of secondary glaucoma associated with ocular trauma. Results: 43 admission cases of secondary glaucoma associated with ocular trauma were divided into four types by clinical findings: hemorrhage type, chamber angle injury type, synechiae and proliferation type and lens related type. 20 cases (46.5%) received medical treatment or combined with anterior chamber washing. 23 cases (53.5%) received other surgical procedures, including filtration surgery, vitrectomy, and combined surgery. After treatment, intraocular pressure (IOP) in 37 eyes (86.05%) was controlled (6mmHg 21mmHg was found in 5 eyes and IOP<6mmHg was 1 eye. In 4 eyes the visual acuity was decreased or lost. One eye had hemorrhage after the operation, one eye with intraocular hypotension. Conclusions: Clinical causes of secondary glaucoma associated with ocular trauma are complex. The medical treatment of secondary glaucoma associated with trauma must be tailored for the individual patient. Proper operative option can control the intraocular pressure.
