【Objective】To evaluate the value of color Doppler flow imaging applied to diagnose renal artery stenosis and investigate the prevalence and correlative factors of atherosclerotic renal artery stenosis(ARAS) in patients undergoing coronary angiography.【Method】Selective coronary angiography and renal angiography were operated in 228 patients after color Doppler flow imaging, by cross-check analysis between the result of color Doppler flow imaging and that of renal angiography, and by multivariate logistic regression analysis between clinic data and renal artery stenosis.【Results】The sensibility of color Doppler flow imaging in diagnosing renal artery process and stenosis was 92%, the specificity was 96%, sensibility of renal artery stenosis was 91%, the specificity was 99%; sensibility of renal artery process was 80%, the specificity was 97%. In 228 patients, the prevalence of ARAS was 19.7%. The prevalence of ARAS was 27.6% in 152 patients with coronary artery disease confirmed by coronary angiography. In 51 patients with coronary artery disease and carotid artery atherosclerostic plaques, the prevalence of ARAS was 49.0%. In 55 patients with carotid artery atherosclerostic plaques, the prevalence of ARAS was 41.8%. In 45 ARAS patients, the prevalence of left renal artery stenosis was significant higher than that of the right (P<0.05). Multivariate analysis indicated that age, refractoriness hypertension, carotid artery atherosclerostic plaques and coronary artery triple vessel lesion was identified as independent predictors of ARAS.【Conclusion】Color Doppler flow imaging was a simple, effective, reproducible method for diagnosing renal artery stenosis. Renal angiography should be routinely performed in patients with coronary artery disease especially for 3 vessels undergoing coronary angiography to discover ARAS early, in addition, including patients more than 60 years with refractoriness hypertension and carotid artery atherosclerostic plaques.
