Objective:To study the effect of Rhinocort (Budesonide)on apoptosis in nasal polyps fibroblast. To examine the possible mechanisms underlying the therapeutic mode of glucocorticoids in nasal polyps. Methods:Nasal polyps fibroblasts derived from 9 nasal polyps were cultured with different concentration of Rhinocort in vitro. Subsequently, the ability of Rhinocort induce cell apoptotic in fibroblasts was examined. Results:Addition of Rhinocort (Bud)at a concentration of >30μl/ml to cell cultures inhibited cell growth in all cases. Rhinocort caused apoptosis of fibroblasts, which was assessed by Flow cytometric and dye of Hoechest. Conclusion:Rhinocort suppresses proliferation of fibroblasts and induce apoptosis. It may be the possible mechanism underlying the therapeutic mode of glucocorticoids in nasal polyps.
