Objectives : To investigate the status quo and influence factors of unintentional injuries among the oldest-old living alone in Laoximen community of Shanghai city, and to explore prevention and intervention countermeasures of unintentional injuries.Method:According to entry and removal standards, the oldest-old living alone (older than 80)in Laoximen Community of Shanghai City are interviewed at home by the investigators trained to find out the frequency of the unintentional injuries from June 2005 to June 2006,and the living conditions, the cognition to the unintentional injuries and the prevention demand of the unintentional injuries of the oldest-old living alone are investigated at the same time. The data is inputted and analyzed by SPSS13.0. According to the statistical result, reference some international classic intervention modes of injury and combine circumstance of Laoximen community, explore prevention and intervention countermeasures of unintentional injuries. Results:â‘ We receive 202 questionnaires with recovery rate of 98.5%,99% of them are effective. The test-retest reliability and internal consistency reliability of questionnaires is credible (reliability coefficients >0.7).There are 58 subjects suffered unintentional injuries during last one year. The incident rate of injuries is 29%, total number of injuries is 71(35.5%), and the main type of unintentional injuries is fall(78.9%). Unintentional injuries often happen in the morning (66.2%) and at home (57.75%). Logistic regression analysis shows that the risk factors of unintentional injuries are visual disorder, negative psychological feeling(OR>1)and the protective factors are high cultural level and the cognition to fall (OR<1);The cognition to injuries of subjects is low, and many prevention demands exist.â‘¡Draw the intervention countermeasures to the unintentional injuries of the oldest-old living alone, formulate a flow-sheet to prevent fall initially, and also compile a handbook about how to cope with unintentional injury of the elderly. Conclusion:The oldest-old living alone are the key population of the unintentional injuries. According to the characteristics and demands of the oldest-old living alone and the risk factors of unintentional injury, and based on the specific situation of community and society, to explore and build the feasible, effective surveillance and prevention system of the unintentional injuries and to adopt various intervention patterns will play important part in preventing and decreasing the unintentional injuries and improving the safety and the living quality of the oldest-old.
