The TCM Literature Study Of Warm And Purgative Remedy

The thesis collects all kinds of existent traditional Chinese medicine literatures about the warm and purgative remedy(WPR) from pre-Qin dynasty till latter-day by means of philology. We want to find the development rule of WPR through analyzing and summarizing the evolution of theoretical system and prescriptions systematically.The pathogenesis, location of the disease and nature of the disease WPR are gained by summarizing and analyzing relevant literature of past dynasties. The conclusions are:â‘ The pathogenesis WPR aims at, is the accumulation of pathogenic cold.â‘¡The location of the disease WPR aims at, is middle jiao or lower jiao and the mainly correlated viscera are the spleen, stomach, intestine, liver and gallbladder. According to the theory of managing lower treat upper, the accumulation of pathogenic cold which lies in upper jiao can be treated by WPR.â‘¢The nature of the disease WPR aims at,is cold excess syndrome.At the same time, the accumulation of pathogenic cold accompany with deficiency is also treated by WPR.The thesis has also analyzed the prescription mentality of purgative recipes of warm nature.The main drugs of purgative recipes of warm nature can be divided into three kinds:drugs warming up the interior and scattering cold, purging drugs, warming the internal and purging drugs.Because of the different emphasis of the pathogenesis of constipation due to cold point,the former two kinds have the difference of principal and secondary status.Somewhat cold, the drug warming the interior is the main medicine.Gathering worse, the purging drug is the main medicine.In view of the different concurrently various pathogenesis,choose the corresponding medicine, and explain with examples.Where is stagnation of qi,qi-regulating drugs are combined.Where is deficiency of qi,qi-reinforcing drugs are used.Where is closed qi,drugs facilitating lung are used. Where is blood deficiency,drugs enriching the blood and moisten the dryness are used.Where is blood stasis, drugs promoting blood circulation to dispel blood stasis are used. Where is phlegm damp, drugs resolving phlegm are conbined. Where is stagnation of food, drugs promoting digestion are used. According to the prescription mentality of purgative recipes of warm nature, the author summarizes the significance of croton combined with rhubarb and the drugs warming up the interior combined with rhubarb.Problems are brought forward following the study. The relationship between dose and effect causes leading to different effects as to the combination of croton and rhubarb,and the relationship between dose and effect as to the combination of drug warming the internal and rhubarb.
