Objective: To further understand the etiology, clinical manifestation, prognosis and treatment of erythrodermic psoriasis. Method: Retrospective study of 38 patients with erythrodermic psoriasis followed up at First Affiliated Hospital of Xinjiang MedicalUniversity from 1998 to 2001. Results: Among the 38 patients, the average age of onset was 40 years, and the ratio of male to female was 1.7:1. Systemic corticosteroid and Chinese medicines were important precipitating factors. Conclusions: Nonregular treatments are important precipitating factors erythrodermic psoriasis. At present, there are different treatment for erythrodermic psoriasis. Corticosteroid have many adverse reactions, pro caine, wilfordii, and Methotrexate have effective in the treatment of erythrodermic psoriasis.
