Background Vitiligo (OMIM: # 193200) is an acquired, sometimes familial depigmentary disorder, presenting white patches and/or gray hair of the skin and hair that results from selective destruction of melanocytes. To date, the pathogenesis of vitiligo is unknown although there are many theories about its etiology, including self-destructive, biochemical, neural, autoimmune, and genetic hypotheses. At present, the evidence of theory of autoimmune is most among of them. For example: autoimmune disorders are infamous and many auto-antibodies are exist in the vitiligo,et al.At latel, some studiers finded that there was some vitiligo patients whose PLT in peripheral blood was lower than that of conters. Besides them considered this phenomenon was cause by autoimmune functional disorder. Objectives To appraise platelet count in patients with vitiligo detailly and to analyze the cause of reduced PLT and to expect to supply a indirect evidence. Methods We collected the clinical data of 303 vitiligo patients with epidemiological schedule table who came from OPD of Department No: 1 Hospital of Anhui Medical University. We detected the PLT from there peripheral blood with routine and the PAIgG from t there serum with SEPSA. Those date were performed by EpiData 3.1 and SPSS 13.0 software packages. Results 1)The level of PLT in vitiligo patients was lower than which in controls. 2)The level of PLT was concerned with types and stages. Comparing with controls, platelet count was lower in localized/universal/ advanced vitiligo patients, while the difference in other type/stages was no significance. The level of PLT among types and among stages vitiligo patients was not significance difference. 3)Comparing with childhood controls, the platelet count of childhood vitiligos was lower. The difference of PLT was significance between childhood vitiligos and no-childhood vitiligos. 4)The decrease of platelet count in vitiligo patients was not concerned with sexuality/recurrent history/ family history. The level of PLT between onset and relapse vitiligo patients /between familial and no-familial was not significance difference. 5)The positive rate of ser-PAIgG was higher in vitiligo patients than in controls. 6)The positive rate of ser-PAIgG was concerned with types /stages and family history. Comparing with controls, The positive rate of ser-PAIgG was higher in localized/universal/ advanced / familial vitiligo patients, while the difference in other type/stages /no-familial was no significance. The positive rate of ser-PAIgG among types /among stages /between familial and no-familial vitiligo patients was not significance difference. 7)Comparing with childhood controls, The positive rate of ser-PAIgG of childhood vitiligo was higher. The difference of the positive rate of ser-PAIgG was no significance between childhood vitiligo and no-childhood vitiligo. 8)The advance of positive rate of ser-PAIgG in vitiligo patients was not concerned with sexuality/recurrent history. The positive rate of ser-PAIgG between onset and relapse vitiligo patients was not significance difference. Conclusions 1)Comparing with controls, the level of PLT in vitiligo patients was lower. The decrease of platelet count in vitiligo patients was not concerned with sexuality/recurrent history/ family history, while could be related with types and stages.Comparing with childhood controls, the platelet count of childhood vitiligo was lower. 2)The difference of platelet count was no significance between male and female / between onset and relapse /between familial and no-familial /among stages / among types vitiligo patients, and between childhood vitiligo and no-childhood vitiligo. 3)Comparing with controls, the positive rate of ser-PAIgG was higher in vitiligo patients. The advance of positive rate of ser-PAIgG in vitiligo patients was not concerned with sexuality/recurrent history, while could be related with types /stages and family history. Comparing with childhood controls, the positive rate of ser-PAIgG of childhood vitiligo was higher. 4)The difference of positive rate of ser-PAIgG was no significance between male and female / between onset and relapse /between familial and no-familial /among stages / among types vitiligo patients, and between childhood vitiligo and no-childhood vitiligo. 5)The decrease of platelet count in vitiligo patients woule be cause by patients'autoimmune functional disorderm, but detailed condition would be more approached in future.
