Objective To elucidate the diagnostic value of quantitative analysis of plasma EBV–DNA in patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma. Methods Using fluorescence quantitative polymerase chain reaction(FQ-PCR),the copies of EBV–DNA in 35 plasma samples of NPC patients were examined, and compared with 50 normal controls. Results The positive percentage and copies of plasma EBV–DNA of NPC patients(65.7%,Median17 180.0) were significantly higher than those of normal controls(32.0%,Median0).Conclusions FQ-PCR determination of plasma EBV–DNA still can not make a definite diagnosis to NPC,but it is of practical use to screen NPC.Our results suggest that further investigation is warranted.
