Objective:1. To comprehend the epidemiology characteristic and language faculty of 3-18 years old speech disabled patients in Guangdong.2. To analyze the language behavior characteristic of speech disabled patients and provide reference for their rehabilitation training.Methods:1. We had sample survey of 3-18 years old patients who had speech disable and recorded their age, gender, habitation area, educated years, type of speech disable, disabling disease and level of speech disability in Guangdong in the second hol-country disabled sample survey. The epidemiology characteristic was described by pictograph, the space and population distribution of educated years, type of speech disable, disabling disease was analyzed by Wilcoxon pairing rank test and the influential factor of level of speech disability was screened by multiple linear regression.2. We evaluated 235 speech disabled patients who were 3-18 years old with the Verbal Behavior Assessment Scale(VerBAS), and described their language behavior characteristic. The language behavior characteristic of speech disabled patients was described by cartogram and analyzed by one-way ANOVA.Results:1. The rate of speech disabled patients who were 3-18 years old in countryside area was higher than town area in Guangdong, and the rate of countryside area was 66.39%. The rate of male speech disabled patients was 68.51%, that was more than female. The rate of speech disabled patients who were 3-6 years old was 38.30%, that was the highest in all age grades. The rate of patients who were educated less than 6 years was 95.74%, that was the highest in all levels of education. The rate of the first class speech disability was 47.66%, that was the highest in all grades of speech disability. The rate of language hypoevolutism was 42.55%, that was the highest in all types of speech disability. The rate of dysnoesia was 30.21%, that was the highest in all disabling diseases.2. There was statistics difference in the space and population distribution of speech disable type and disabling disease(P<0.05), but there was no significant difference in that of education level(P>0.05).3. The influential factors of level of speech disability included educated years, age, disabling disease and habitation area which were screened by multiple linear regression.4. The result of principal component analysis and factor analysis revealed that there were three factors: receptive language, communication language and delineation language. These factors accounted for 83.067%of the total variance. The difference among types of speech disabled patients had statistical significance in receptive language, communication language and delineation language(P=0.000).Conclusion:1. The characteristic of speech disable patients who were 3-18 years old in Guangdong: more male patients than female patients, more patients in countryside than in town. There was significant difference in space and population distribution of speech disable type and disabling disease but no significant difference in that of education level.2. The level of speech disability was influenced by educated years, age, disabling disease and habitation area.3. The Verbal Behavior Assessment Scale(VerBAS) had satisfactory validity, it reflected the difference in receptive language faculty, communication language faculty and delineation language faculty among types of speech disabled patients and could provide reference for their rehabilitation training.
