The acupuncture prescription approved by clinical practice contained the acupoints of GV20,LI4,EX-HN3,CR3 combined with auricular acupuncture therapy, which has the efficacy of soothing the liver and regulating Qi circulation, plus resuscitating and relieving Qi-depression. In order to improve the compliance of patients and reduce the recurrent rate, we did the research to evaluate the validity and safeness. Objective: To observe the clinical effect , the improvement of TCM syndromes and the reliability of acupuncture in the treatment of depression with liver-qi stagnation syndrome. Methods: Totally 60 type diagnosed as the disease at the acupuncture clinic and psychological clinic were randomly divided into Acupuncture group and Prozac group. In Acupuncture group, the patients were treated two times a week, with acupoints of Baihui(GV20), Yintang(EX-HN3),raichong(LR3), and Hegu(L14)applied combined with auricular acupuncture together, In Prozac group, the patients were treated with one Prozac capsule per day for 12 weeks. HAMD index, TCM syndromes index and SERS were used as evaluation indexes. Results:â‘ HAMD index showed significant difference before and after the treatment in both groups, which implied that both groups had satisfactory results. HAMD index showed significant difference before and after the treatment between both groups, which implied that the 2 groups had the same effect.â‘¡TCM syndrome index showed significant difference before and after in the both groups, which implied that acupuncture may work better in TCM index improvement than prozac.â‘¢SERS index showed significant difference between the both groups, which implied that acupuncture was safer that the drug. Conclusion: Acupuncture was effective for the disease and it worked better in TCM index improvement and safety than prozac.
