Measurement Of The Palmar Tilt During The Diagnosis Or Treatment Of The Distal Radius Fracture

Objective :To analysis the measuring results of the palmar tilt during the diagnosis and treatment of the distal radius fracture and discuss the points for attention when measuring the palmar tilt.Methods the objects were 53 patients' lateral X-ray views of the wrist. All the patients had one of their wrists injuried. Totally, 116 views were collected. Dividing these views into two groups according to whether the outline of the scaphoid,pisiform and capitate can be identified or not. If these three bones can be identified,the views were classified by SPC(scaphopisocapitate) criterion as excellent,acceptable, unacceptable. The other group were classified by RUO(radioulnar overlap) criterion. Measuring the palmar tilt on the excellent and acceptable views.Results The three bones can be classified on 66 views.23 views of them were common X-ray plates and 41views were DR (Digital radiographs)plates.the other 2 views were CR plate. Classified by SPC criterion,12 views were excellent,25 acceptable,29 unacceptable. The rest were 50 views including 27 common X-ray plates and 23 DR plates. Accoding to RUO criterion,4 views were excellent, 18 views were acceptable,28 views were unacceptable. Totally,59 views were classified as excellent and acceptbal. 9 views were no fracture. There were 2 views on which the palmar tilt was less than 10°and on 7 views the tilt was from 10°to 15M9 views were before reduction. there were 13,4,2 views on which the palmar tilt were <10o,10°-15o,>15°respectively. 14 views were after reduction. there were 2,11,1 views on which the palmar tilt was <10°,10°-15o,>15°respectively. 10 views were gained during the first follow-up. there were 3,7,0 views on which the palmar tilt was <10o,10°-15o,>15°respectively. 7 views were gained during the second follow-up. there were 2,5,0 views on which the palmar tilt was <10o,10°-15o,>15° respectively.Conclusion : It is an important process to measure the palmar tilt during the diagnosis and treatment of the distal radius fracture .In order to make the results comparable and repeatable,the gaining of standard lateral view should be paid attention to. The parmal tilt has the variation in the normal crowd .Reguler observation of the palmar tilt should be done after external fixation. The fixation time in the rectifiable position should be lengthened.
