Objective To determine the assolation between the polymorphisms of ERα-29T/C and chronic hepatitis B virus infection. Methods A total of 137 chronic hepatitis B(CHB) patients, 48 patients with HBV -induced liver cirrhosis and 70 normal control subjects were chose to conduct a case-control study. ERα-29T/C polymorphisms were examined by polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism(PCR-RFLP), the association between chronic hepatitis B virus infection and above gene polymorphisms was analyzed by Chi-quare test.Results1. The frequency of ERα-29 genotypes TT,TC and CC in HB patients were53.3%,35.8% and 10.9% respectively, and 30.0%(TT),47.1%(TC) and 22.9%(CC) in the normal control subjects. There was a statistically significant difference between HB patients and normal control subjects(x~2=11.432, P=0.003).The frequency of ERα-29 genotypes TT in patients with HBeAg-negative was markedly higher than mat in the HBeAg-positive group(P<0.05).2. A multiple logistic regression analysis reveal mat ERα-29 TT genotype was independently associated with CHB after adjusting the potential confounding effects of gender(OR=3.556, P=0.004)3. There was a statistically significant difference between patients with HBV-induced liver cirrhosis and normal control subjects (x~2=10.457,P=0.005). ERα-29TT genotype have a increased tendencies in the compensatory hepatic cirrhosis groups, but no statistics significance.Conclusions:1. The ERα-29 genotypes TT may be a susceptibility gene to persistent HBV infection.2. The ERα-29 genotypes TT may be related with mutation in precore or BCP of HBV.3. There was no significant difference in frequencies of The ERα-29 genotype polymorphism among the compensatory hepatic cirrhosis groups and decompensated hepatocirrhosis groups. Maybe they are different stages of persistent HBV infection and there is no defference on ERα-29 genotype...
