Objective To investigate the expression of MCM5 E2F-2 p38 and p42/44 and the relationship among these four proteins. Methods Immunohistochemical method was used to detect the expression of MCM5 E2F-2 p38 and p42/44 in 71 cases breast cancers and 20 cases normal breast tissues.Result (l)The positive expression rates of MCM5 in breastcancer and normal breast tissues were 70.4% and 30.0% respectively, and there was a significant difference between the two groups (p<0.05). The positive expression rates of E2F-2 in breast cancer and normal breast tissues were 70.4% and 40.0% respectively, and there was a significant difference between the two groups (p<0.05). (2)MCM5 was correlated to the clinical stage differentiation and lymph node metastasis, nor was age. E2F-2 was correlated to the clinical stage and lymph node metastasis, nor was age and differentiation. (3)The expression of MCM5 and E2F-2 in breast cancer were positively correlated. (4) The positive expression rates of p38 in breast cancer and normal breast tissues were 71.8% and 35% respectively, and there was a significant difference between the two groups (p<0.05). The positive expression rates of p42/44 in breast cancer and normal breast tissues were 70.4% and 25% respectively, and there was a significant difference between the two groups (p<0.05). (5) p38 and p42/44 were correlated to the clinical stage differentiation and lymph node metastasis, nor were age. (6) The expression of p38 and MCM5 E2F-2 in breast cancer were positively correlated. (7) The expression of p42/44 and MCM5 in breast cancer were positively correlated. There was no correlated between the expression of p42/44 and E2F-2 in breast cancer. (8) There was no correlated between the expression of p38 and p42/44 in breast cancer. Conclusions (1) MCM5 and E2F2 is associated with the growth differentiation invasion metastasis of breast cancer. (2) p38 and p42/44 is related with the development invasion and metastasis of breast cancer. They are siganal molecules in breast cancer. (3) p38-E2F2-MCM5 may be a new signal transduction pathway related with the growth invasion and metastasis of breast cancer. p42/44 is not E2F2-dependent to stimulate the function of MCM5,but other unknown molecule.
