Objective:To investigate the expression of Maspin protein and their clinical significance in thyroid cancer so as to evaluate the relation between Maspin and thyroid carcinoma together with its prognosis ,and the dependablity between Maspin protein and the expression of p53 protein .Methods:The expression of Maspin protein in 33 cases of thyroid carcinoma , 10 cases of thyroid adenoma , 10 cases of nodular goiter ,10 cases of normal thyroid tissues and the expression of p53 protein in 33 cases of thyroid carcinoma were detected by ultrasensitive immunohistochemistry S-P method, combined with the clinical and pathological data and follow-up data to undertake analysis.Results:1.Of the 33 cases of thyroid carcinoma, the positive rate of Maspin proteinum expression was 48.5% (16/33 ) , whereas there was on expression in the cases of thyroid thyroid adenoma ,nodular goiter and normal tissues, and the difference of Maspin proteinum expression between the thyroid cancer and the thyroid adenoma, nodular goiter and normal thyroid tissue was considered highly significant (P<0.01) .2.The difference of Maspin proteinum expression in the different pT phases(P=0.032) and UICC stages(P=0.004)are of significance.3.Maspin proteinum expression has inverse correlation with p53 (r =-0.52).4.The result of follow-up manifested that M+ patients' survival rate of 1,3, 5-year postoperatively was 100%,92.9%,92.9% respectively, while M- patients' survival rate of 1,3, 5-year postoperatively was 93.8 %, 87.5%, 87.5% respectively, and the difference has no statistically significance (P=0.586) .Conclusion:1. The expression of Maspin protein arose significantly in the thyroid carcinoma, hint that Maspin perhaps is one of the useful tumor markers in the thyroid carcinoma .2. Maspin is likely to inhibit the infiltrative of thyroid carcinoma .3. Maspin proteinum expression has inverse correlation with p53, and the results suggest that mutation of p53 may down regulated the proteinum expression of Maspin.4. This experiment hints that maybe there is no significant dependability between the proteinum expression of Maspin in thyroid carcinoma and the survival rate postoperatively.
