Rapid prototyping and 3-D reconstruction technique gradually applied to the prosthetics dentistry realm, brought the revolution variety. In theoretical and practical studies in China and abroad, the availability of a research model is a fundamental issue. So far, available 3D dental visualizations for education are not sufficient for performing quantitative analysis.FEM studies in prosthetic expert systems have been limited to two-dimensional analysis, or partial 3D model for abutment tooth. Current 3D FEM models are too simple to provide complete information of stress distributions. In addition to that, solid modeling and quantitative analysis of the prosthetic process have not been done. The traditional prosthetics can't satisfy the need in the craft, material, beauty and price etc., the designed period is superfluous and the worn result is faint. The modern medical science can acquire the 3D model of Jaw Bone and Dentition quickly and accurately , and can convert into STL format (sterolithography) quickly by spiral CT and laser scan , resolve to the prosthetics problem for design and creation. The purpose of this present study is to develop a new 3D geometric model which is helpful to solve the problems above. The contents and innovations are as follows:Firstly, a 3D geometric model in dentistry including mandible, partial maxilla and both dental arches has been systematically developed. In a characteristic way it is based on layering and modularity which are necessary to CAD and FEM analysis in prosthetic dentistry. It establishes a complete technical process of 3D geometric model reconstruction in prosthetic dentistry which can be widely used in this interdisciplinary field.According to the these different loading patterns, the condition and character of stress distribution in the mandibular in normal human being were analysed. The rapid prototyping technology apply to the realm of prosthetics dentistry , and discuss the manufacture technics of mandible and inferior teeth.
