Research of the effect of nursing intervention on self-management behavior of patients with maintained hemodialysisObjectiveTo study self-management behavior in hemodialysis patients and to improve their health related quality of life (HRQOL) by improving self- management behavior.MethodsSelf-administered questionnaire was used to measure self-management behavior and short-form 36 health survey (SF-36) was used to measure HRQOL of patients with hemodialysis. Sampling investigation based on hemodialysis patients in the First Hospital of China Medical University. Forty-eight patients were separated into intervention group and control group with convenient sampling, twenty-four patients respectively. Patients in the intervention group were given nursing intervention and patients in the control group were given conventional health education. Selfmanagement behavior and HRQOL of two groups were surveyed before the intervention, six months after the intervention and t-test was used to compare self-management behavior and HRQOL of these two groups at the same time.Results1,Reliability of questionnaireThe questionnaire had satisfying reliability. For the test-retest coefficient of the scale was 0.713~0.814. The overall questionnaire Cronbach'αcoefficient was 0.901, and the coefficient of the 4 dimensions was 0.743~0.901. 2,Validity of the questionnaireThe content validity index (CVI) for each dimension was 0.817~1.000, while for the overall questionnaire was 0.916. The correlation analysis indicated that the structure of the questionnaire was excellent. The method of factor analysis was used, 4 factors were extracted on the standard that eigenvalues is over 1. Loarding for each factor was greater than 0.3, indicating that structure of the questionnaire was matching the theoretical constructure.3,Nursing intervention(1) There months after nursing intervention, there was not any statistical differences between patients of the intervention group and the control group except in the aspect of body movement the difference already available(P<0.05)beforeintervention.(2) Six months after the intervention, the sore of the self-management behavior and HRQOL of hemodialysis patients receiving nusing intervention had been improvcd(P<0.01, P<0.05 respectively), not only between the intervention group and the control group but before and six months later of the of the intervention group.Conclusions1. The questionnaire developed in the study has good reliability and validity. It is available to measure the self-management behavior in hemodialysis patients, to find the students' shortages in the field and evaluate the efficency of the health education.2. The effect of nursing intervention on the self-management behavior and HRQOL OF hemodialysis patients will not appear before some time.3. The effect of nursing intervention on hemodialysis is feasible and effective. Self-management behavior and HRQOL of hemodialysis patients can be improved by receiving nursing intervention.
